Winter Festival 2001: Ski in Central Park.
New York City Parks will blanket Central Park's East Meadow with over a foot of snow so New Yorkers experience can cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, sledding and other winter activities. The Winter Festival is entirely free and will feature 500 pairs of snowshoes, 500 sets of cross-country ski equipment, and free instruction. The event will also have hayrides, entertainment, and hot chocolate.

Empire State Building Valentine's Day Weddings
Each Valentine's Day couples get married on the 80th floor of the Building and automatically become members of the Empire State Building Wedding Club which entitles them to free admission to our Observatories on their anniversary, Valentine's Day. To be one of the lucky couples please write to the Empire State Building, 350 Fifth Ave., New York, NY 10118 and explain why you want to get married there. Couples are then chosen on the basis of originality, uniqueness, style, etc. The deadline for letters getting married this Valentine's Day, is December 31st.
